Move On Up

“The trouble was, I had been inadequate all along, I simply hadn’t thought about it.”

I wonder,

How can someone so singular in mind,

Be so double in their standards?

How can someone so longing to be freed from outside opinion,

Be so ready to compartmentalize all others?

How can someone so desiring of respect from this very same outside,

Be so ready to marginalize all those who would freely give it.

I wonder,

But in knowing that no answer to my puzzlement is forthcoming,

Decide to wonder no more.

Deciding that Rochelle’s image provided a near-perfect excuse to empty my mental closet of some very old and unneeded worry, I jumped full-on with this week’s Friday Fictioneers. I hope you decide to jump on (full or otherwise) as well…

  1. Dear Troy,

And in the end, a healthy decision is made. Reminds me a lot of the poem “A Hole in the Sidewalk” . If you’re not familiar with it, look it up. ;)

Nice one. Glad to see you here. I’ve missed you.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

    • If it’s the opposites that attract, then it’s the similarities that bond. Unless they’re so much so as to actually separate instead. Regardless of which occurs, you have the right to view the outcome in your own light, and responsibility to ensure that that light is neither too narrow nor rose-colored.

      Or something like that, right?

  2. Troy – Been out of town without internet access….”please” and “Move on Up” are too fabulous for words. As I was reading, I was feeling your words, gotta love that kind of writing! Thanks Troy…You never disappoint!

  3. I loved this post, Troy. I was discussing the same point with someone earlier today. Why is it that people who scream for tolerance and acceptance are neither tolerant or accepting of others? You nailed it, buddy. Wonder no more.

    • Ah, but dear, the “wonder” can also kill you, if you allow it to captain the ship. Better still to know when the time for questions is passed, and the time for new answers, arrived. Thanks for reading along this week =)

    • I didn’t use this pic half as creatively as you, dear sir. But thank you none the less =)

PS: and my tale is only true, so long as we as individuals allow it to be…!

  4. Valuable wonderings here, of some of the many contradictions in us. Reminds me of a quote from some celebrity (I can’t remember which one): “I am a mass of contradictions.” That’s certainly true of me, maybe of others as well. I like how you split the questions with infinity symbols. Makes me think of the infinity of questions that could be asked.

    • Oh, how I wish that I could say that I did that last part intentionally, Zooky! In this case however, it must have been much more a divine touch than a man-made one. Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention =)
