“The trouble was, I had been inadequate all along, I simply hadn’t thought about it.”
~ Sylvia Plath
I wonder,
∞
How can someone so singular in mind,
Be so double in their standards?
∞
How can someone so longing to be freed from outside opinion,
Be so ready to compartmentalize all others?
∞
How can someone so desiring of respect from this very same outside,
Be so ready to marginalize all those who would freely give it.
∞
I wonder,
But in knowing that no answer to my puzzlement is forthcoming,
∞
Decide to wonder no more.

Deciding that Rochelle’s image provided a near-perfect excuse to empty my mental closet of some very old and unneeded worry, I jumped full-on with this week’s Friday Fictioneers. I hope you decide to jump on (full or otherwise) as well…
Dear Troy,
And in the end, a healthy decision is made. Reminds me a lot of the poem “A Hole in the Sidewalk” . If you’re not familiar with it, look it up. ;)
Nice one. Glad to see you here. I’ve missed you.
Shalom,
Rochelle
It’s good to be back Rochelle, and please, consider this my birthday present to you…
Cuz I sure as heck n’ doodle didn’ buy ya a blessed thing otherwise!!!
=)
Works for me. ;) Thank you.
Reblogged this on Icanbeatit.
Great sentiments Troy. Are you directing them at yourself or at someone else, I wonder.
Thank you Sandra, and Yes.
horror and tears
If it’s the opposites that attract, then it’s the similarities that bond. Unless they’re so much so as to actually separate instead. Regardless of which occurs, you have the right to view the outcome in your own light, and responsibility to ensure that that light is neither too narrow nor rose-colored.
Or something like that, right?
Troy – Been out of town without internet access….”please” and “Move on Up” are too fabulous for words. As I was reading, I was feeling your words, gotta love that kind of writing! Thanks Troy…You never disappoint!
Thanks so much Lotta =) If ever there is a book with my name on it, “Please” (My Prayer) will most definitely appear within the very first pages – promise!
Finally, there is someone who listens to me! :)
Purging is good. No point in carrying a heavy load when a lighter one will put a spring in your step. Interesting choice for the challenge.
Thanks Tess – all the lines and the division just got me thinking of some bad old memories and feelings. Memories and feelings I finally decided to ditch. I feel better and lighter (tho I haven’t lost an ounce!) as a result =)
;-)
I loved this post, Troy. I was discussing the same point with someone earlier today. Why is it that people who scream for tolerance and acceptance are neither tolerant or accepting of others? You nailed it, buddy. Wonder no more.
Thanks Russell – and as we can all be accusers to the crime, most of us could also stand guilty of the same.
A good post Troy. This is a great point, so very well made.
Well done
Dee
Thank you so much Dee, and speaking of great points, I’m so glad I read yours this week as well!
That was great :)
I’m honored you think so =)
And can I just say, the Virginia Woolf quote on your site is just about the truest thing I’ve ever heard!
Very telling. Thank you. But still, the wonder is like a journey. It is half the fun…
Ah, but dear, the “wonder” can also kill you, if you allow it to captain the ship. Better still to know when the time for questions is passed, and the time for new answers, arrived. Thanks for reading along this week =)
Yay! So glad to have you back. Jam on.
I missed y’all – and yours this week was simply delicious dear!
Thank you darling. Now play me some music!
Hahaha! Check back in on Tuesday dear, and PLEASE play along with Twisted Mix-Tape Tuesday when you do! This week the challenge is “beautiful” – I’m sure you can nail that one!
This is a great piece.. amazing how you could use the picture so creatively… the message you carry is sad and true…
I didn’t use this pic half as creatively as you, dear sir. But thank you none the less =)
PS: and my tale is only true, so long as we as individuals allow it to be…!
Dear Troy,
There was a real feel of release in your words this week. Good riff and perhaps good riddance to some of those feelings.
Aloha,
Doug
Good riddance indeed Doug, thanks! And now, on to the next hang-up =)
Valuable wonderings here, of some of the many contradictions in us. Reminds me of a quote from some celebrity (I can’t remember which one): “I am a mass of contradictions.” That’s certainly true of me, maybe of others as well. I like how you split the questions with infinity symbols. Makes me think of the infinity of questions that could be asked.
Oh, how I wish that I could say that I did that last part intentionally, Zooky! In this case however, it must have been much more a divine touch than a man-made one. Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention =)
i liked this a lot. not a word wasted, Troy. :)
Thank you so much kz – it means a lot coming from one gifted as you =)
